Cookie policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device. They do many jobs, from keeping you logged in to measuring how a site is used. Some expire when you close the browser, others sit for longer.
This page explains which cookies we use on dprime.au and why.
Why we use them
We use cookies for three reasons:
- To make the site work properly (for example, remembering preferences across pages)
- To measure how the site is used so we can improve it
- To detect and prevent abuse and fraud
We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking.
Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These cookies keep the site working. Without them, things like chat sessions and form submissions would break. You cannot opt out of these without breaking the site.
Analytics
We use aggregate, anonymised analytics to understand how people use the site. We do not link this data to individuals, and we do not share raw data with third parties.
Preference
These remember small choices you make, like whether you have dismissed a banner. They are there to save you repeating yourself.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| dp_session | Dprime | Keeps your chat and form session going | Session |
| dp_consent | Dprime | Remembers your cookie consent choice | 12 months |
| dp_pref | Dprime | Remembers preferences like reduced motion | 12 months |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Aggregate, anonymised usage stats | Up to 24 months |
| _fbp | Meta Pixel | Measures referral traffic from Facebook and Instagram | 3 months |
Third party cookies
Some cookies are set by services we use rather than by Dprime directly. Current third parties:
- Google Analytics for aggregate, anonymised usage measurement. IP addresses are truncated and we do not link the data to individuals.
- Meta Pixel to measure how people find our site from Facebook and Instagram. Only used to improve our own understanding of our audience, not to build advertising profiles of individuals.
Each third party has its own privacy and cookie policy. We pick partners who are reasonable about this, but they are not under our direct control. Links to their policies:
- Google Analytics: policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta Pixel: facebook.com/privacy/policy
How to control cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers also offer a "private" or "incognito" mode that does not store cookies.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the site (for example, you will not be able to use the chat). Blocking analytics cookies is fine and will not affect functionality.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
Changes to this policy
We update this page when the cookies we use change. The latest version is always here, with the date shown above.
